On June 18–19, 2025, CESI Engineering School hosted the 5M (Month 5) meeting of the VLF4EU project at its campus in Rouen, France. This second transnational gathering brought together all project partners to assess initial progress, validate shared deliverables, and deepen cooperation in implementing the Virtual Learning Factory model across Europe.
The two-day meeting began with a warm welcome from the hosting partner, CESI, followed by a guided tour of their flexible production laboratory. Attendees explored hands-on demonstrations of educational projects using digital twins and extended reality (XR) applications, offering a concrete glimpse into cutting-edge learning technologies that align with VLF4EU’s mission.
The working sessions started with an in-depth discussion led by AFM on WP2, focusing on skills needs, existing Learning Factory (LF) networks in Europe, and collaboration mechanisms. This was followed by WP3 presentations from UCN, who introduced key working documents including the draft definition of “Virtual Learning Factory”, a conceptualisation of the “VLF Toolkit”, and the development of the “Learner Persona” model. These inputs sparked valuable discussion among partners, helping to establish a shared pedagogical foundation for the project.
The first day concluded with a joint session on WP4, led by CESI, where all partners presented initial use cases to support the design of the VLF4EU digital platform. These cases defined technical requirements—including types of digital models and technologies (e.g., AR, VR, digital shadows/twins)—as well as associated learning outcomes.
On the second day, IMH presented the roadmap for WP5, centred on Industry 5.0-oriented learning modules. UCIMU’s then introduced the dissemination strategy plan under WP7. ELESAR also provided updates on project coordination and next steps, closing the meeting with a round of open discussion and planning.
Alongside the technical sessions, the meeting featured cultural and networking moments, including a guided walking tour of Rouen’s historic centre and a consortium dinner at a local bistrot—further strengthening the collaborative spirit of the VLF4EU Alliance.
